New York, NY, July 8, 2010 — The NYC Shakedown continues this summer in the
city that never sleeps with the next event on Friday, July 16th at it’s new
home in Brooklyn: The Bell House.
There’ll also be two dance parties in August with one of the nights in the
Shakedown’s birthplace: Philadelphia. DJ Nutritious and Zoe Wilder’s
SpinSpinNYC are the force behind the monthly music parties.
DJ Nutritious (aka Mikey Beatz) is a well-traveled DJ/producer and a Jazz
drummer whose diverse style on the decks the past 13 years have a global music
flavor.
“House music is a universal language that helps us spread a message of unity
and love all over the world,” says DJ Nutritious whose DJ and production
background span many genres including House, Hip-Hop, Jungle, Funk, Downtempo,
Trip-Hop, R&B, Bebop, Modern, Avant-garde and traditional Jazz. His
collaborations and
performances have included Johan Afterglow, Angel Alanis, Donald Glaude,
Onionz, Rob Paine & Willyum, JT Donaldson, Craig Mitchell, the labels Electrik
Soul, Slanted Black, and Slanted House, as well a host of solo instrumentalists
including: tenor saxophonist Will Swank (The Motet), drummer Stephen Chopek
(Charlie Hunter/John Mayer), keyboardist Zac Lasher (U-Melt) and Beatbox MC
ElaNEF (The Boxcutters). Nutritious has also scored music in a few movies for

His DJ name fits him, since he’s also well-versed in nutrition. He was a
contributor to the New York Times bestseller “Living Well” by Montel Williams,
which chronicles the Emmy-winning talk show host’s life with Multiple Sclerosis
(MS). DJ Nutritious’ health-oriented recipes are included in the book.
The Atlanta-born Wilder is a model/dancer/vocalist who makes her new home in
NYC. She’s hosted art salon loft parties in Brooklyn called Hyperbole and
exhibited performance art at NYC’s legendary Wonderland parties. She has been
producing events with DJ Nutritious as the other half of SpinSpinNYC along with
sharing in writing and performing. Wilder also performs with various musical
artists around the world. Wilder has been featured in several publications
including numerous art gallery installations and has self-published a book of
poetry called “hot box”
The July NYC Shakedown will feature ATNARKO who is both a well-respected DJ and
record label owner. He has appeared on Ministry of Sound, OM, Fabric. Street
Beat, Fat City, Network and Astralwerks. His collaboration with British House
legend Huggy as “Formidable Force” for the 2020 Vision label is a must-have for
many of the world’s top House DJ’s. ATNARKO and Q-Burns abstract Message are
co-owners for the vinyl-based record label Eight-Tracks.
The event also has a live PA performance by Brooklyn Sound Lab: the crunchy,
closed-circuit production duo of U-Melt’s Zac Lasher and Josh Parrish. New
York-based resident avant-garde VJ Mamiko Kushida (who hails from Kyoto, Japan)
will also be in the mix along with DJ Nutritious and dancer/vocalist Zoe Wilder.
NYC Shakedown’s new venue; The Bell House in Brooklyn is located at 149 7th
Street in the Gowanus area of Park Slope. Their number is (718) 643-6510 and
