WCYC 90.5 WAS THE HISTORICAL SOUTHSIDE RADIO STATION THAT WAS THE ONE OF THE FIRST RADIO STATIONS TO EVER BREAK FREESTYLE MUSIC & LOCAL HOUSE ARTISTS SUCH AS FAST EDDIE, TYREE COOPER, MC ACTION, KOOL ROCK STEADY, LIZ TORRES TO NAME A FEW. THE EVER SO FAMOUS “FRIDAY NIGHT HOT MIX SHOW” FROM THE DOMINATING 6 DJ TEAM GREW IN POPULARITY ON STREETS & BECAME A HOUSEHOLD WORD. THE DJ TEAM INCLUDED MEMBERS SUCH AS: GABRIEL RICAN RODRIGUEZ, GINO ROCKIN ROMO, PABLO PUNKOUT GONZALEZ, RICK THE RIPPER, LUIS SEGURA, DJ CAVEMAN, RICK GUERRERO TO NAME A FEW.

THE STATION WAS A HUGE SUCCESS THANKS TO HARV ROMAN & MAGIC JUAN WHO DIRECTED THE STATION TO CATER TO THE STREETS OF LITTLE VILLAGE, PILSEN & BACK OF THE YARDS. WCYC had such talented individuals who now still work in the Chicago radio industry such as: Candi (Kiss FM), Donnie Divoe (WGCI), Kenny Jammin Jason (1clubfm), Rick Party (WGCI), Harv Roman (wakeupdancing) Gabriel Rican Rodriguez (La Kalle), David Miranda (Mega), Hector Lozano (Chicago White Sox) Virginia Lozano (Mega)

GABRIEL RICAN RODRIGUEZ, (WCYC’s 90.5 Dominating 6 Member)
Gabriel has established himself as a major DJ force in Chicago and he has mixed for radio stations such as Univision’s La kalle 93.5 / 103.1 FM, B-96 96.3 FM, WCYC 90.5 FM, WCRX 88.1 FM, WRTE 88.9 FM & WIIT 88.9 FM. This versatile deejay was blowing up the Chicago mixtape scene with over 45 different mixtapes of various styles of music and heavily promoted himself on the streets. Gabriel Rican also had the opportunity to showcase his skills on “Hot Wax” one of the hottest cable dance mix shows on Comcast Cable with over 1.5 million viewers per episode. DJ Gabriel Rican has opened for artists like Pitbull, Baby Bash, Nina Sky, Lil Rob, Malverde, Notch, Casa De Leones, La Factoria, Wisin y Yandel, Kinto Sol, Chino Bling, Tony Touch, Chosen Few, Down, Monchy y Alexandra, Toby Love, Extreme, Opitmo, Groupo Mania, George LaMond, Stevie B, Cynthia, Judy Torres & TKA to name a few. In 2007, Gabriel traveled to Boston, MA to DJ at La Fraga Ent. Boat Party hosted by Jam’ 94.5 Hip Hop & La Kalle 100.7 / 105.1 FM. During this time, he also appeared in a Reggaeton video entitled “La Cookie” with Boston’s favorite group Alofoque. In 2008, Gabriel Rican traveled to Miami, FL to appear in A2’s Hip Hop/R&B video called “Come Ride with Me” and was in “A2’s” live performance at the Calle Ocho Fest.

PABLO PUNKOUT GONZALEZ, (WCYC’s 90.5 Dominating 6 Member)
By the age of 14 he already hit the airwaves on WRRG (Triton College Radio) and became a regular guest Dj at the historic Club Jenals. He later began to record Dj sets for Legendary Radio Station WBMX, and became an associate member of the World Famous Hotmix5. Pablo also guest mixed for WGCIam/fm radio stations. Early in his career, Pablo became a successful Dance Promoter on the Northside of Chicago. Responsible for memorable Dances at Armitage Hall, Centrum, Marina City (now known as the House of Blues) to the Aragon Ball Room. He expanded his promotions to Milwaukee Wisc., where he introduced the natives to House Music.On WCYC he was able to do more than just recorded dance mixes, he became an Original member of the Dominating 6, on air personality, his own radio show, produced, promoted and also became Music Director. Pablo became widely recognized for his Alternative Dance mixes on the Southside of Chicago and would pack the Alcatrazz Dance Club as the resident DJ when he performed his Alternative/Techno sets.
