Chicago, November 25th, 2009:

Veteran DJ & Party Promoter Jesse De La Peña presents an evening of Old School 80’s & 90’s Music in celebration of his “BACKTRACK” party series turning 10. The festivities take place this Wednesday, November 25th 2009 (Thanksgiving Eve) at Double Door 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave.

This year’s special guests are 2 legends of Chicago House Music: Vocalist Shawn Christopher & Hot Mix 5 / WBMX DJ: Mike “Hitman” Wilson. Plus the Blue Groove Lounge DJs: Pumpin Pete, 33 1/3, Jesse De La Pena + an All-star Breakdance Showcase. The party is hosted by ex Liquid Soul front man
Dirty M.F. & WCYC Radio personality Harv Roman.

This night is sure to be one of the hottest parties in town. Originally started over a decade ago at the Funky Buddha Lounge, this event pays homage to the music & fashion of the 80’s across the board. It has also showcased some of Chicago’s
most legendary DJs & performers such as: Farly “Jackmaster” Funk, Bad Boy Bill, Andre Hatchett, Derrick Carter, Mickey “Mixin” Oliver”, Johnny Fiasco, and singer Keith Nunley (J.M. Silk), etc. For the very first time 90’s music is being incorporated in the form of a showdown: 80’s vs. 90’s theme, All styles. No rules! Shawn Christopher former backing vocalist for R&B singer Chaka Khan 1982 – 1985 and former member of the industrial dance music band: My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and Sonia Dada. Christopher sang lead vocals on Chicago House Classic “French Kiss” in 1989 produced by Lil Louis. The song became a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. During the 1990s she also scored three #1 singles: “Another Sleepless Night” in 1991, “Don’t Lose the Magic” 1992, and “Sweet Freedom” in 1998. She also sung backing vocals on Jimmy Somerville’s #1 Hot Dance Club Play track in 1995, “Heartbeat”. Christopher’s “Thinking About the Way” reached #57 in the UK in 1994 along with “Make My Love”. In 2009. She returned to dance music with producer Ralphi Rosario to scored a #1 single “Everybody Shake It.” that topped the charts for the week of Oct. 17, 2009.

Mike “Hitman” Wilson world renowned DJ and former member of Chicago’s Hot Mix 5 and WBMX Radio has held residencies at Chicago’s Rivera Nightclub and China Club also New York’s Red Zone and Palladium during the 80’s and 90’s. As a producer/remixer Mike has created some of the best house music tracks in history. At one time he had 5 #1 Billboard magazine dance hits in a row. He has remixed music for: Michael Jackson, Madonna, Jermaine Dupree, New Order, Prince, Carl Thomas, Teddy Riley and many more. Mike currently lives in Orlando with his family and owns a nightclub and restaurants design company.
