Quite frankly, Dudley Strangeways is a name that should be on everyone’s lips. Already a highly regarded DJ with a stronghold of residencies across the Midlands and London, including the notorious Back to the Future parties at Nottingham’s Stealth Club, Dudley is now gaining himself a reputation as a talented producer. And for good reason too.
In just 18 months, Mr Strangeways has amassed an impressive discography with releases and remixes on respected labels such as Resopal Schallware, Som Bom, Fullbar and Don’t Sleep Worldwide, both as a solo artist and as collaborator with Retrac. Quickly honing his own unique sound, Dudley’s productions have been steadily grabbing the attention of the dance music industry with an evergrowing fanbase that includes top jocks such as Nick Warren and Richie Hawtin. His first outing on Evasive Deep, Porcelain Sparkles EP, was released last summer and widely praised by Nick Warren, Silicone Soul, Robert Owens, Justin Harris, Alland Byallo and Giom amongst many others. It is then with great pleasure that Evasive now presents Harry’s Draw EP, which is not only Dudley’s second release for the label in less than a year, but what is also probably his best EP to date.
Harry’s Draw EP is a top notch collection of three solid deep, techy house tracks, and quickly getting down to business is Passer with its catchy piano hook that converses organically with key stabs and alluring female vocal samples. Title track Harry’s Draw is an aural myriad of pads dialogue, synth lead, and an almost imperceptible breathy female vox stab; and last but by no means least is ASC, which follows in the conversing vein as its predecessors, winding the EP down nicely to an early hours stride. In short, on this EP expect to find a healthy dose of steady rhythms, captivating melodic synth & key chord conversations, lush pads and, above all, extremely accomplished arrangements.
