June 16, 2010
Dear friends,
We are excited that in just a few weeks, we will again be hosting you, our fellow house music lovers from Chicago and around the world, at the 2010 Chosen Few Picnic. Last year’s event drew 20,000 to the lakefront for a day of fun, music and friends, and the 20th edition of the picnic promises to be the best yet with your incredible energy, phenomenal guest DJs, a special performance by legendary vocalist Rochelle Fleming from First Choice and, of course, the sounds of the Chosen Few DJs.
To help our guests prepare for this year’s picnic, the following outlines important official details and changes related to the event.
Admissions
To continue to bring our friends a high quality, enjoyable Chosen Few Picnic, and to cover the ever-increasing costs associated with producing an event of this magnitude, we are charging a modest admission fee: $5 before 12:00 noon; $10 after 12:00 noon; free all day for kids 12 and under. There will be four (4) admission gates located on Hayes Drive, all of which will open at 6:00 A.M. Via wristbands to be issued before exiting the picnic grounds, you will be permitted to leave and return to the picnic.
You may still bring your tents, grills, etc. and can set up anywhere you like OTHER THAN in the limited VIP areas that are being reserved for those who purchase a VIP tent space package in advance. Those VIP areas will be located closest to the “dance floor” and stage and are discussed further below.
VIP Tent Space and Parking Packages
We are offering the opportunity to purchase in advance a limited number of VIP packages that offer premium tent space near the “dance floor” and stage and/or parking in the two lots closest to the picnic area, the east and west lots on Hayes Drive. You do NOT need to purchase one of these packages to attend the picnic or to bring your own tents, grills, etc. The three VIP packages and their costs are described in the “Links” section here: www.chosenfewdjs.com There, you will also find the private links you MUST use in order to purchase these packages on-line. There are only a limited number of VIP packages available. No packages will be available for purchase after Friday, July 2nd or sooner if they are sold out earlier.
Drop-Off and Parking
There will again be areas along Hayes Drive for dropping off gear and guests; please look for the signs directing traffic.
If you purchase a VIP package that includes a parking space, you will NOT also have to feed the parking meters. The Chosen Few has rented these parking lots for the day for our guests.
If you do not purchase a VIP package that includes a parking space, we have arranged for additional paid parking in several lots located on 63rd Street west of Stony Island Avenue; please look for signage directing you to these lots. For the safety and security of your vehicle, these lots will be attended by a valet parking company we have contracted with for the day. The cost for parking in these lots is $20 per vehicle for all day parking. We have also rented these lots for our guests for the day, so you will not need to feed parking meters in these lots. There will be no in/out privileges in any of the parking lots.
Parking also is available along city streets in the general area of the park, but will not be permitted on Hayes Drive between Lake Shore Drive and Cornell Drive. Please consult city signage along those streets regarding parking meters and other city parking rules.
Public Transportation
The Chosen Few Picnic at 63rd Street and Hayes Drive is accessible via several CTA bus and Metra train routes, including the #6 Jackson Park and #14 Jeffery buses and the Metra Electric District train. Big props to the Chosen Few DJs! We thought the turnout was insane. We saw nothing but a sea of people in every direction! So much for a boycott. We are very happy the picnic was a resounding smashing success–by ANY standard. Thanks for voicing your opinion, msfay! <div style="display: block; margin: 6px 0pt 0pt;"><a class="a2a_dd" href="http://www.addtoany.com/share_save"><img src="http://static.addtoany.com/buttons/share_save_171_16.png" alt="Share/Save/Bookmark" border="0" height="16" width="171">

I've been watching the clips of the picnics for the past 2 yrs. I want to bring my family to the 2011 picnic. When, where and what time? Peace and blessings to you.
Hey, Frazier. You'll definitely wanna mark your calendar. It's usually around the Fourth of July weekend, but check the chosenfewdjs.com site. We'll definitely spread the word when the date is announced. Be on the lookout for special package deals.
The event ALWAYS manages to get even better, year-after-year. In other words, they RAISE the bar every year!
Peace and happy Thanksgiving! –J. Medley
