Bio: DJ/Producer, Remixer, and Record Label Manager of the world renowned Tribal House label Coraza Recordings. Deka, (whose birth name is Alexander Karangioze) has been performing from behind the decks for over seven years in front of enthusiastic club goers all across the United States.
In the Fall of 2001 Deka landed his first club gig at “Club Fuel” in his hometown of Lowell, MA. An underground club with a capacity of just 300 people, located thirty minutes North of the bright lights in Boston. After a successful first few spots, Deka received positive feedback from many club goers in the area. It was here that he started his career and earned his first residency with a loyal following that would soon propel him to bigger stages on a national level in years to come.
In 2003 while still a resident of “Fuel”, Deka had begun playing in bigger cities such as Boston, MA and Providence, RI. Spots in Boston, to name a few, included Axis, Avalon, Embassy, Roxy and Pravda. Outside of Boston, Deka became a resident at New England’s most sought after afterhours club, “Pulse” in Providence, all while maintaining his residency at Fuel. From 2004-2007 things were non-stop for Deka as he had juggled multiple residencies in Boston while beginning to be booked on a national level. In between this time Deka had headlined at some of the biggest rooms in the country. With spots at Emerald City (Philadelphia), Therapy (Providence, R.I.), Discotekka (Miami), The Metronome (Burlington, VT), Sin City (Waterbury, CT), Elevate (New Haven, CT) and Pacha (New York City) to name a few of the more popular named clubs. During this span Deka also held residencies in Boston at RumoR, Venu, Aria, OM, Tabu, and was a monthly resident at the world renowned RISE Club in Boston, the only legal afterhours club in Boston. Here he not only headlined but was hand-picked to play alongside other global talents. Well known DJ’s such as Pablo Ceballos of Chus & Ceballos, Carlos Manaca, Pete Tha Zouk, Peter Bailey, Richie Santana, Midnight Society, D-Formation, Serge Devant and Plasmic Honey are just a few respected DJ’s that Deka has spun alongside. So much was accomplished in this time frame, but still that was not enough for Deka who refused to settle and decided to take on more projects in the coming years.
In 2007 he took on the responsibility of starting and running his own record label, Coraza Recordings. Two of the first three tracks he ever produced (In The Darkness & Amor Los Batido of Escuro Recordings) sold a tremendous amount of units globally and had broken deep into the top 100 downloads on Beatport.com. It was then that Deka was persuaded by other label owners and well known producers to invest in his own record label. After long prep work in launching the label, the first release on Coraza Recordings came out in mid 2007. Two years later, after several major hits, Coraza Recordings stands as one of the top Tribal House labels in the world with support ranging from Danny Tenaglia to Steve Lawler to Chus & Ceballos. On top of running the label, Deka has also been signed to the legendary record label, Nervous Records, where as a Producer he has had much success with his original releases “They Will Come” and “Enter Your Soul.” Not only did these two tracks hit the top 100 download sales on Beatport but “Enter Your Soul” was later licensed to an in store mix compilation CD by Long Island NY legendary DJ, DJ Theo, which is sold worldwide in stores on Nervous Records.
From 2007 to 2009, Deka’s success as an accomplished DJ and ‘up & coming’ global producer was becoming evident. His talent as a DJ and work as a producer had gained support from living legends in the industry such as Danny Tenaglia, DJ Vibe, Chus & Ceballos, Richie Santana & Peter Bailey, Austin Leeds & Nick Terranova, DJ Boris, Carlos Manaca, Carlos Fauverelle, DJ Paulo, Stephan Grondin and countless others. Furthermore, Deka has collaborated with some of the best producers and vocalists in the world. His latest, an original with the infamous Alan T, titled “Miami” was recently an instant success that was debuted at the 2009 Winter Music Conference at one of Deka’s WMC parties. The track, “Miami,” was heard that same night with Alan and legend Danny Tenaglia, who happened to be hanging in the booth with Deka while he dropped it live for the first time. Not to mention, the track sold a tremendous amount of units, hitting the top 100 sales once again on Beatport in the following weeks after. Deka has also collaborated with other well known producers such as Midnight Society and Dave Rose. He has also produced successful releases with vocalists such as Craig Mitchell & Lula.
Currently at the age of 27, Deka is just as busy as ever. Constantly evolving, he has still maintained his signature Tribal House and Iberican sounds with Tech influences as a DJ/Producer while still always keeping it fresh. He is constantly making regular appearances at Twist and Discotekka in Miami, Fl, as well as several spots in his hometown of Boston and other parts of the US. To date Deka has spun at every club in Boston and nearly every club in New England. He plans on touring Canada, South America and Europe in 2010. He is most recently signed with twelve record labels worldwide which he has or will be releasing an original or remix for each respective label. Most recently an Original collaboration with Dave Rose titled “Lose Control” with remix by DJ Chus of Stereo Productions coming out on Coraza and Stereo this Summer 2009. Also “Tribal Is Here To Stay” another solo original coming in the Fall 2009 on Magna Records Portugal, the label of Carlos Manaca. The future of House Music is here, stay tuned.
