INTRODUCING KEVIN SHINE

Kevin Shine is a proven music industry executive with 15 years of experience in various capacities, including both A&R and management. He is a creative motivator who is passionate about real music and believes in keeping his ears to the pavement. His passion allows him to successfully develop and discover new talent while managing other promising endeavors. Shine manages a highly anticipated songwriting duo, Galaxy, while serving as the Senior Vice President of the Soul Selector DJs (representing 115 members). In addition to this, he was recently appointed as an A& R Consultant to Wayne Williams, the tenured Senior Vice President of A&R for Jive Records.

Shine is mostly recognized for his un-relentless efforts to educate musicians and support quality music that typically would go unrecognized. With this in mind, Shine moved from Atlanta to Chicago in 2008 and fearlessly penetrated the Atlanta urban music community. While creating opportunities for his songwriting team, he developed strong alliances with many industry executives and artists. Most importantly, he has established a wide range of educational programs and provides opportunities for emerging local talent, a distinguishing factor that differentiates him from other music industry executives.

This educational platform was nothing new for Shine.  He has an extensive background in teaching music business that began at Chicago Music & Entertainment Training Institute (METI).  He was also a professor at Columbia College – Chicago, where he served as Faculty Advisor for Columbia’s Urban Music Association Student Organization (CUMA).  He taught “Developing Record Deal Strategies”, which better-prepared students for practical career solutions.  Within 4 years at Columbia College-Chicago, he acquired a 70% success ratio in helping students secure music industry internships and jobs.  In Atlanta, Shine continues to be heavily involved with the college community by mentoring Georgia State’s Music and Entertainment Industry Association (MEISA) student organization.

While planting strong relationships in the Atlanta music community and continuing to focus on education, Shine launched his company The F.I.R.M. and has since begun adding to his list of successful projects. Kevin Shine developed “The Premiere A& R Showcase“, which provides a two-fold opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent and gives record company executives first dibs on the next big star.  The success of the first two showcases has resulted in a 5-city tour deal with Live Nation and The House of Blues that will launch Fall of 2009.

In a joint effort with ASCAP’s Tremayne Anchrum (Director of Creative Urban Affairs), he currently hosts a private producer/songwriter mixer called “Writing Sessions: Live in the Studio” held once a month.  The event allows independent artists, producers and songwriters to get an educational experience as well allowing them to benefit from a private networking environment. Past attendees include Wayne Williams, Jive Records; Kawan Prather, Def Jam; and NO I.D., G.O.O.D. Music.

Live Radio” is Shine’s most recent venture which will be open to the public. This preliminary tool will develop artists and writers from the ground floor. All musicians will have the opportunity to receive critiques on their recorded material.

Some of Shine’s accomplishments include:

· Contributing to the development of R. Kelly’s new album scheduled for 2009 release.

· Securing song placements for Galaxy on R&B/pop female group Krave (Upfront/Geffen/Interscope/Right Time).

· Consulting Upfront Megatainment on Krave’s artistic direction.

· Advising on projects such as Raheem Devaughn (Jive Records), Lele (DTP), T-Boz and Grammy nominated producer Nitti Beats with his new R&B group Hamilton Park.

· Attributing to the discovery of Kanye West, thus resulting in his deal with Def Jam.

· Discovering Grammy award winning producer, Kevin “She’kespere” Briggs who has penned hits for mega groups TLC and Destiny’s Child.

· Working with Steve Mckeever in constructing Hidden Beach Records, which pioneered mainstream soul artists such as Jill Scott.

Shine exemplifies the F.I.R.M’s mission by building his programs to help raise the quality of music and music education.  He is currently seeking further exposure and strategic partnerships.
